La Asociación proautovía León-Braganza, que celebró su tercera asamblea general ordinaria en Santa María del Páramo, sostiene que dicha autovía «es un eje importantísimo de desarrollo y que es una carretera en la que se deben comprometer todas las administraciones implicadas». La Asociación está decidida a «no va a perder el empuje y el impulso para lograr su objetivo».
Entre sus acciones tiene previsto visitar el puerto de Gijón, para lo que cuentan con la colaboración de los presidentes de las Cámaras de Comercio presentes en la Asamblea, que se pondrán en contacto con el presidente de Asturias, y también pretenden reunirse en Braganza con representantes del Gobierno portugués, del Gobierno central español y de la Junta de Castilla y León.
José Fernández, alcalde de la Villa sanabresa, junto con el resto de miembros de la Asociación consideran que «es fundamental que la autovía León-Braganza se encuentre en los proyectos de futuro de la Junta de Castilla y León y del Gobierno Central». La Asociación es consciente de que ha cambiado el discurso político debido a la crisis económica que atraviesa el país y que ahora lo que se transmite es que hay que mantener lo que ya está realizado y de momento no construir más. Sin embargo, piden que esta autovía se encuentre en la planificación de las administraciones porque «llevamos años reivindicando está carretera y es fundamental para el desarrollo» para que cuando la situación mejore se proceda a llevar a cabo el proyecto de la autovía.
La construcción de la autovía León-Braganza permitirá comunicar Oporto con Gijón y que se cree una red transeuropea que facilite entre otras cosas el transporte de mercancías y el comercio. Además, permitirá las comunicaciones con una futura estación del AVE en Otero de Sanabria y con dos aeropuertos. 
El alcalde de Puebla, José Fernández, considera que el trabajo realizado por Asociación por la Autovía León-Braganza es positivo porque «se ha creado una necesidad social y se van a continuar las reivindicaciones porque la autovía León-Braganza es fundamental»"
